Even though it’s eleventy billion degrees here in Philly this week, and I’ve been working at a day camp with all that evil nature and fresh air, I still wanted to share with you, my tens of readers, some great deals on books this week. (Could that run-on sentence BE any longer?)
One Buck Books
Charade by Nyrae Dawn – Sexy, emotional story? Check. Tattooed leading man, with a soft squishy inside? Check. (Plus, his name is Colt. Every leading man named Colt is super-hot. It’s science.)
Imperfectly Perfect by A.E. Woodward – This one is high on my TBR. It’s getting awesome reviews! I can’t wait to meet Emma, and her three best guy friends! (Damn, she sounds like me!!!)
In The Stillness by Andrea Randall – Another one that is way up on the TBR list. All my friends tell me that this is a beautiful, evocative novel about a woman in an unhappy marriage, and the ways she copes with her unhappiness. And, AND…5% off sales of this book will go to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. As the wife of a disabled vet, this is amazing to me!!
If It’s Free, It’s For Me!
Finding Mia by Rachel K. Burke – When her mother is institutionalized after a failed suicide attempt, Mia is abruptly forced to live with the estranged father she has not known for ten years. She is shocked to discover that he has created a new, picture-perfect life for himself, and is now living with a stepmother and a half-sister Mia never knew she had. Together, Mia and her new family must face the bitterness, mistakes, and long-hidden secrets that threaten to destroy their precarious happiness.
Touching Melody by RaShelle Workman – Maddie Martin’s first weekend at college is nothing like she’s used to. It’s wild, like the wilderness on which the University of Bellam Springs sits. Roped into going to a fraternity party, she literally runs into Kyle Hadley. The boy she’s loved since she was nine. The boy she promised all of her firsts to. But that was before his father killed her parents.
Determined to stay away from him, she throws herself into her music. Practicing piano eases her heavy heart, calms the sadness, and pushes away images of Kyle’s face. Until it doesn’t. (Cue dramatic music accompanying my compulsive click!)
Chasing Justice by Danielle Stewart -Piper Anderson has been given a fresh start in the picturesque town of Edenville, North Carolina. But her plans of settling into a normal life are derailed when she witnesses a prominent judge in her community committing a violent assault. Running from her own past and fueled by a passion to make the judge answer for his crimes, Piper is forced to decide if she’ll play by the rules or achieve justice in her own way. Complicating things further, Piper finds herself fighting a powerful attraction to rookie cop, Bobby Wright. Although she’s increasingly enamored with Bobby, his staunch belief in the justice system is in stark contrast to her own. She may not share his opinions about the effectiveness of the law, but she certainly can’t deny how safe she feels when she’s in his arms or how every kiss leaves her desperate for more. (Book Two in this series releases on 7/22)
Enjoy! And don’t forget to check in and tell me what thought about these reads!!!
