Kindle crack at it’s best! The prologue hooked me, I HAD to know what their story was!
In this debut novel from a fellow Philly girl (Woo-hoo!), we meet Mia, an ambitious student at Harvard Law, and Marcus, the wealthy owner of one of Boston’s more prestigious law firms. Mia has qualified for a summer externship at Marcus’ law firm, which is unusual for a first-year law student. After a chance meeting with Marcus at a club, there is a definite connection between the two.
Marcus, who can only be described as suave, sensual, and smoldering, wants Mia. Like really WANTS her. But he’s hiding something. Mia is a little reticent at first, she’s lost everyone close to her, and the grief makes her guarded. But their connection is undeniable, and a hot love affair is born.
Can any relationship with so much baggage succeed? When it’s good, it’s GREAT! When it’s bad, it’s a fucking MESS. Montes really succeeds in making you FEEL what these characters are dealing with. You’re really rooting for them, you’re cursing one (or both) of them when they’re acting like a stubborn ass. Did I mention the love scenes steamed up the screen of my Kindle?
They go through some life-changing stuff in the story, and Marcus’ double life makes things difficult and dangerous. In the end, they are determined to make it work, but there is still so much working against them! Guess they’ll have to be Cautious with their relationship in the future!
